After an 11-year hiatus, the Philadelphia Turkish Day Festival was successfully held on June 2, 2024, under the leadership of TASC. We are proud and delighted to have reunited with our fellow citizens at this long-awaited event.
The festival provided a unique opportunity to showcase our rich Turkish culture, cuisine, and music to our American friends. Attracting thousands of attendees from diverse backgrounds, the festival also became a vibrant celebration with the enthusiastic participation of representatives from Turkish Republics, including Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, and Kyrgyzstan. We were honored to welcome distinguished guests such as Turkey’s Consul General in New York, Reyhan Özgür, and former Philadelphia City Council Member and mayoral candidate, Mr. David Oh, a longtime friend of the Turkish community.
Our talented artists performed throughout the day, introducing our cultural heritage to the audience. A highlight of the event was the unforgettable concert by renowned Turkish singer Ziynet Sali, who traveled from Türkiye specifically for Turkish Day Festivals.
During the second phase of the festival in Philadelphia, TASC President Attorney Seyit Şahin strongly condemned the recent heinous attack on CNN Türk’s U.S. Representative, journalist Yunus Paksoy, by FETÖ elements. He reaffirmed TASC’s commitment to following up on legal proceedings to ensure justice is served. In recognition of his unwavering stance, Yunus Paksoy was honored with a plaque by the Turkish-American National Steering Committee (TASC).
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all partners and the Presidency for Turks Abroad and Related Communities (YTB) for their invaluable contributions to the festival. We are proud to announce that this festival will continue to grow and become a cherished tradition in the years to come.
