TASC Hosts New York Panel on Women’s Rights
TASC organized a panel discussion with the leaders of Kadin ve Demokrasi Dernegi (KADEM) and Maarif Foundation within the context of March 8 International Women’s Day (IWD). The event took place at New York Hilton Midtown hotel on March 17, 2017.
Dr. Sare Yilmaz president of KADEM spoke on the July 15 2016 coup attempt and Turkish women’s involvement as guardians of democracy: “July 15 coup: Women stronger than the tanks”
Ms. Tuba Nur Sonmez, advisor to Turkish presidency discussed women’s role in the Turkish political system: “Women in the evolving political history of Turkey”
Professor Askin Asan, president of Avrasya University and executive board member of Maarif Foundation covered the topic of women fighting against terrorism and the coup attempt: “The coup and struggle against terror”
The panel was well attended. TASC board members who organized the panel thanked the panelists and presented them with appreciation plaques.
