A commemoration ceremony was held to mark the 81st anniversary of the 1944 deportation of the Crimean Tatar Turks, who were forcibly removed from their homeland on May 18, 1944. The program served as a solemn remembrance of this great tragedy and honored the painful memories of the past with deep respect and sorrow. Hosted by Ms. Esma Resutov, President of the American Association of Tatar Turks, the event was honored by the presence of H.E. Ambassador Ahmet Yıldız, Permanent Representative of the Republic of Türkiye to the United Nations. On behalf of the Turkish American National Steering Committee (TASC), our Director of Turkish Republics, Mr. Muhammet Sami Görgülü, attended the ceremony. As TASC, we do not forget the suffering endured by the Crimean Tatar Turks and remain committed to preserving the memory of this human tragedy.
